Naomi studied dance performance and teaching at The Stella Mann School of Dancing where she gained her Teaching Diploma. During her time there she was part of the Pineapple Cheerleaders Dance Troupe promoting American Football, performed in a music video (Feargal Sharkey), took on a cover teacher role at the college and was a student teacher at CKTS. Naomi also taught Dance and Movement at Gayhurst School, Gerrards Cross for 11 years.
During my years teaching at CKTS I have occasionally been asked why I haven't moved on to teach at other dance schools. My answer? Why would I move when I'm at a school where excellent, enthusiastic staff genuinely care and want the best for their wonderful students, where staff support each other and where we have outstanding shows supported by a team of fabulous past pupils and parents. CKTS is a great place to learn, make friends and have fun.
Amanda Henman BA (Hons) AISTD
Ballet, Modern and Tap Dance Teacher
I started dancing at the age of 7 after begging my mother to let me go to ballet class. As an ex dancer herself she said I had to take it seriously and no messing around. I must have listened to those words as dance ended up being my passion and career. At 18 I gained my first teaching qualification from the ISTD in tap. I knew I wanted to Inspire others to have the same enjoyment of dance that I had growing up. I went on to gain my BA (Hons) degree in dance from The London College of Dance and also completed my teaching qualifications from the ISTD in modern and ballet.
After graduating in 1998 I moved to Mo I Rana in Norway to teach at the Tiptoe Ballettstudio. In my two years there I discovered my passion for choreography. I was commissioned to choreograph two ballet shows for the studio, Swan lake and sleeping Beauty. I worked with Den Norske Opera on the dance sections of 2 shows touring Norway. I was commissioned to choreograph a dance for the opening ceremony of the national skiing championship and for the opening of a new statue in Mo I Rana. I was also a judge on a Norway talent competition! I had an amazing time in Norway but it was cold. The average temperature was about -20 and if you know me you know I love the sun! I moved back to England and was lucky to start at CKTS in September 1998 and I have enjoyed it so much I am still here.
CKTS is a wonderful school and I have been lucky to teach many amazing pupils who I hope I have inspired to love dance as much as I do. My highlight has always been the amazing shows at CKTS and seeing the students shine on stage and having fun, and finding friends for life.
